Gurkirat Singh in final
NEW DELHI,
JULY 14
Promising talent Gurkirat Singh on Wednesday made it to the final of men's javelin in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy.
The 19-year-old Indian recorded a distance of 66.84m in his second attempt to progress to the final from Group B, according to information received here. Gurkirat's first attempt measured 63.16m while he fouled his third and last chances.
K. J. Clinton failed to qualify for the long jump final in the on Tuesday. The Indian jumped 7.33 metres and was placed 14th in the qualifying classification.
The Kerala boy who had won the Asian junior title at Ipoh, Malaysia, last month, with a jump of 7.57 metres, missed qualification narrowly.
