Indians finish third

KOLKATA, JULY 14. The three-member Indian women's team took the third spot with a total of 1899 points at the end of the qualification round of the XVII Golden Arrow Grand Prix meet at Antalya in Turkey on Wednesday.

On the individual front, Dola Banerjee occupied the eighth place overall at the end of the 72-arrow qualifier. India's other two entries, Sumangla Sharma and Reena Kumari finished 13th and 27th respectively.

According to information reaching here, Ukraine's Tetyana Berezna took the top spot with a total of 652 in the absence of the all-conquering South Koreans. Her compatriot Kateryna Palekha was second with 648. Poland's Malgorzata Sobieraj was third with 645.

Dola came up with 642. Sumangla, participating in a senior competition since March this year, did rather well to collect 635 while Reena Kumari let her team down with a very poor score of 622. India totalled 1899. Ukraine took the top spot in the team standing with a total of 1944 followed by Poland with 1912 and India 1899. — Our Special Correspondent
