NHRC notice on branding

NEW DELHI, JULY 14 . The National Human Rights Commission has issued notice to the Inspector General of Prisons, Chandigarh, Punjab on the alleged branding of undertrial prisoner Rocky in Amritsar Central Jail.

Taking suo-motu cognisance of the incident reported in the newspapers on July 4, the Commission has called for a report from the IG (Prisons), Punjab within six weeks.
