VISAKHAPATNAM, JULY 14. A debt-ridden farmer of Burugupalem in Makavaripalem mandal, Allu Swaminaidu (30), who attempted suicide on Monday, is still in critical condition. He is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Respirator Care Unit of the King George Hospital here. Though conscious, Swaminaidu has been put on artificial respiration. Meanwhile, the Revenue Divisional Officer of Narsipatnam Division, K. Nageswara Rao, announced at Burugupalem that the Govenrment would extend help to Swaminaidu, who had consumed pesticide when moneylenders mounted pressure on him to repay loans. Land would be allotted to the farmer and his children admitted in a Government hostel, the RDO said.
