VIJAYAWADA, JULY 14. The Andhra Pradesh Health, Medical and Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Employees Union will organise a "chalo Hyderabad'' programme on July 19 in support of their demand for regularisation of the services of the para medical staff working on contract basis in different Government hospitals and primary health care centres. The programme will be followed by a seminar at the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram which is expected to be attended by the MLAs, representatives of the NGOs association and the Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers. The union general secretary, P. Srinivasa Rao, said, in a press release here on Wednesday, that despite discharging duties on par with the regular staff, the contract para medical employees were being denied wages on par with them. Though the matter was represented to the previous Government on several occasions, no steps were initiated to ensure parity in pay and service conditions to para medical employees. Since the new Government made its stand against contract based employment clear, steps should be initiated to regularise the services of the para medical staff working in various medical establishments in the State, in accordance with the promises it made before the elections.
