Temperature

MADURAI, JULY 14. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.0 degrees Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam today stood at 120.5 feet with a storage of 2,727 mcft. The inflow was 101 cusecs, with a discharge of 1,250 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 44.78 feet with an inflow of 685 cusecs and a discharge of 930 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit was 4,027 mcft.

The Periyar dam recorded a rainfall of 2 mm, followed by Tekkadi - 1 mm, according to PWD sources.

Commits suicide

A 70-year-old man died after jumping into the dry Vaigai riverbed from the Albert Victor Bridge today.

The police said the unidentified victim died on the spot.
