CHITTOOR, JULY 15. A retired manager of the Cooperative Town Bank, Murkabata branch, Muniratnam, who was accused for misappropriating bank funds, on Wednesday attempted suicide by lying on the rail track near Masanical grounds here. The train driver, however, braked on hearing shouts from people. Mr. Muniratnam sustained head injuries, but was saved. While he was manager, Muniratnam had allegedly misappropriated Rs. 75, 000 before retiring last month. Bank authorities had stopped his pay and retirement benefits.
