Low pressure area remains stationary

HYDERABAD, JULY 15. The low pressure area remained in the west central Bay of Bengal for the second day on Thursday without giving any strong indication to intensify.

The State Met Office Director, C. V. V. Bhadram, said this evening that the phenomenon became well-marked, rendering the monsoon active in Coastal Andhra. Under its influence, there would be heavy rain in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and Khammam districts on Friday.

Rain lashed many places in the State on Thursday also. During the 24-hour period ended in the morning, Koida accounted for the heaviest fall of the day of 7 cm. The other chief amounts of rainfall were Gajapathinagaram 6 cm; Veeraghattam 5 cm; Kalingapatnam, Eturu Nagaram 4 cm each; Bhimavaram, Kaleswaram, Coonavaram, Perur, Tekkali, Vempalli 3 cm each; and Adilabad, Narsapur, Visakhapatnam, Bobbili, Metpalli and Prakasam Barragr each 2 cm.
