HASSAN, JULY 15. A. Thimme Gowda, Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry, A.V. Kanthamma College for Women, Hassan, has secured the "Jewel of India Award" instituted by the International Institute of Education and Management, New Delhi, for his contribution to education and research. A.V. Kanthamma College has also been awarded the "National Gold Star Award" for 2003-04 by the same institution. Nearly 50 of his research papers have been published in various reputed national and international journals.
