Sabarimala temple opened

JULY 15.
The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple was opened this afternoon for the five-day monthly pooja in the Malayalam month of Karkidakom that begins tomorrow.
The Melsanthi, Gosala Vishnu Vasudevan, opened the sanctum sanctorum at 5 p.m.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the holy hillock on the eve of Karkidakom which Hindus in Kerala consider a holy month and observe as the `Ramayana-month'.
The rituals will begin with the Ganapathi homam tomorrow morning. According to the Tantri, Kantaru Rajeevaru, Kalabhabhishekom will be performed at the Ayyappa Temple on July 18, 19 and 20. A Laksharchana and Sahasrakalasam will also be held at the Sannidhanam on July 20.
Padi pooja and Udayasthamana pooja will be held on all five days. The temple will be closed after the Athazha pooja on July 20.
