BANGALORE, JULY 15. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, on Thursday directed his Principal Secretary, S.V. Ranganath, to conduct a detailed probe into the death of Anish in Indiranagar II Stage on Monday and report to him. Mr. Dharam Singh met Anish's family when he visited rain-affected areas in the city. The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the way BESCOM functioned and reprimanded Director (Technical), V.M. Chandre Gowda, for not removing the wires "even four days after the tragic incident". The residents complained that the wire that killed the boy was removed only in the morning today after the officials heard about the Chief Minister's visit. Mr. Dharam Singh said, "I am shocked to hear that the wires were removed today" and asked Mr. Chandre Gowda "where were you when urgent work had to be attended to?" Later, he told presspersons that he had asked Mr. Ranganath to conduct a probe into the incident. "It is pathetic. All those involved should be sent home. I have been told two engineers have been suspended. But suspending (officials) is not the solution," he said. The boy's parents had told him they did not want the Rs. 1 lakh compensation. "They have appealed to me to get all hanging wires in the area removed. It is astonishing to see such things happening in a locality such as Indiranagar. We need to ensure that such incidents do not happen again," he added.
