`Grant honorary citizenship to Gladys Staines'

BHUBANESWAR, JULY 16. The Global Council of Indian Christians has urged the Centre to grant honorary citizenship to Gladys Staines, widow of the slain Australian missionary, Graham Stuart Staines.

In a statement today, the national convener of the Bangalore-based Council, Sajan K. George, said Mrs. Staines should be given honorary citizenship for her contribution towards eradication of leprosy and spreading the message of forgiveness.

Mrs. Staines, who lived in Baripada town of Orissa, left for Australia on Thursday along with her daughter, Esther.
