Bangalore City gains first innings points

MYSORE, JULY 16. Bangalore City XI, helped by some responsible batting by Manish R. Alse (56) and K.V. Darshan (46) gained the vital first innings lead against Raichur Zone in their rain-hit drawn Group 'B' league encounter played at the PET grounds, Mandya on Thursday. Bangalore City secured five points while Raichur took two.

In the other Group `B' tie at Gangotri grounds, rain played spoil-sport and Mysore Zone and Tumkur Zone had to be content with two points each when the match was abandoned due to rain before lunch. Tumkur in reply to Mysore Zone's 297 in 80.4 overs had scored 68 for four in 27.3 overs when play was halted.

The Scores:

At Mandya: Raichur Zone 180 in 80.2 overs drew with Bangalore City XI 202 for seven in 76.3 overs ( Manish R Alse 56, K.V. Darshan 46, Shashank 29). Bangalore City XI Five points, Raichur Zone: Two points.

At Mysore: Mysore Zone 297 in 80.4 overs drew with Tumkur Zone 68 for four in 27.3 overs (Aditya B. Sagar three for 34) Mysore Zone Two points and Tumkur Zone: Two points.
