Cloudy sky again

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 16.JULY 16.JULY Delhiites will wake up to a generally cloudy sky on Saturday. The weatherman has forecast the possibility of rain or thundershowers in some areas during the day.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Friday was 36.5 and 26 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 36.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.3 degrees Celsius. Safdarjung recorded 1 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours.

At Safdarjung, the maximum and minimum humidity recorded was 83 and 50 per cent respectively. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 93 per cent, while the minimum was 53 per cent.

Two minors killed

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 16.JULY 16.JULY Two minors were found brutally murdered with their throats slit in a house at Vijaynagar in Ghaziabad today. The suspect who was a tenant in the house of one of the deceased has been arrested. The incident came to light around 2-30 p.m. when the younger sister of one of the deceased, Deepak (9) went upstairs in search of her brother and found him and another boy, Rajesh (14) murdered in a room in the top floor of the house. She informed her mother who in turn called the police. Both the deceased had slit injuries on their necks. The police found the murder weapon and some blood-stained clothes from the spot. After a vigorous search Rajesh Dwivedi to whom the room was rented out on June 28 by Deepak's father was traced and arrested. The police suspect it could well turn out to be a case of human sacrifice as Rajesh Dwivedi is a priest by profession. The incident created a terror in the area.

Demolition ordered

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 16.JULY 16.JULY The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has ordered demolition of the unauthorised portions of the Congress MLA, Tarvinder Singh Marwah's house at Jangpura Extension in South Delhi.

Highly placed sources in the MCD said orders for demolition were issued after one of his neighbours complained to the civic body that portions of Mr. Marwah's house (No. I-1 Jangupra Extension) were unauthorised and caused inconvenience to the residents of adjoining buildings.

The inquiry that followed revealed that portions of the said building were unauthorised and there was violation of building by-laws. Subsequently, the MCD issued show cause notices to him.

Burglar arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 16.JULY 16.JULY An alleged burglar has been arrested from R.K. Puram in South-West Delhi and stolen articles worth Rs. 4 lakhs recovered at his instance by the police.

The accused, Babloo, is a resident of Noida. The alleged receiver of the stolen property, Vimal, has also been arrested.
