THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 16. The examinations of the Kerala University that were to be held in the forenoon of July 17 will be held at 2 p.m. the same day. The viva voce for students of B.Sc. Computer Science and BCA courses of the Institute of Distance Education will be held on July 22.

Ramayana month begins

The recital of verses from Thunchath Ezhuthachan's `Adhyathma Ramayanam', religious discourses, special prayers and music concerts marked the commencement of the Ramayana month in the city today.

Inaugurating the Ramayana month celebrations organised by the Travancore Devaswom Board here today, the Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayanan, said that it was time for the administrators of the day to take a cue from the qualities of King Rama. Beemapally `Urus'

The `Urus' festival at the Beemapally Dargah Shereef will be celebrated from July 19 to 29. The festival will begin with the Beemapally Jama-ath president, M. Rafiyan Sahib, hoisting the flag at 11 a.m. on Monday. The District Collector has declared a holiday for all Government offices and education institutions in the city Corporation area on July 19.

power bills

The Lok Ayukta has directed that consumers need pay only the electricity charge levied before the installation of the electronic meters. The order was passed on the basis of a petition filed by A. Gopakumar, zonal president of the Federation of Residents Associations (FRAT), Thiruvananthapuram, against the increase in power charge following the installation of electronic meters. The FRAT general secretary, Punchakkary G. Ravindran Nair, said in a release that the 450-odd member associations also would be eligible for the benefit of the verdict.
