Row over anchorage port engaging private launches

KAKINADA, JULY 17. The Port Department authorities are now faced with a piquant situation over the continuance of 15 floating craft of various types, including launches, water barges and the dredgers which are outdated and found redundant.

Since they are almost fit for condemnation and keeping idle is found out to be more economical instead of operating, virtually all the floating crafts except one or two are confined to wharf for the past nine years leaving the job to the private launches.
