Housing officials face MLA's ire

NIZAMABAD, JULY 17. The Bodhan MLA, P. Sudarshan Reddy, on Saturday expressed disappointment at the delay in payment of outstanding dues for the weaker sections' housing schemes.

Mr. Reddy, speaking at the constituency development review meeting at the Bodhan RDO office today, charged the housing department officials of deliberately delaying the payment. He said irresponsible behaviour from the housing department engineers would not be tolerated and warned the officials to mend their ways or face action. Citing the example of Navipet mandal, he said works to the tune of Rs. 17 lakhs had been completed but the officials had shown Rs. 3 lakhs worth check measurement.

He said the post of housing department executive engineer was vacant in Bodhan town and wanted all the vacant posts in the department to be filled up immediately. He also wanted transfers of assistant engineers of the housing department to be kept in abeyance, till they cleared the outstanding dues for the completed works. He pointed out that if the officials were transferred abruptly, the new officer would not clear old bills. Mr. Reddy condemned the reckless attitude of the officials for not maintaining proper records of drought relief works.
