Dinesh Mongia's contract renewed
CHENNAI,
JULY 17.
Dinesh Mongia's contract with prominent English county Lancashire has been renewed after a sciatic nerve disorder was detected in the side's Australian import Stuart Law. Mongia had originally filled in for former West Indian captain Carl Hooper, after the latter was ruled out for three weeks due to a fractured thumb. The Punjab cricketer performed consistently for Lancashire with the bat while his left-arm spin has proved handy in the one-day contests. Mongia, who was part of the Indian side during the 2003 World Cup in Southern Africa, has 1028 runs in 48 ODIs.
