HYDERABAD, JULY 18. A meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Former Legislators' Forum here on Sunday demanded issue of GOs on the recommendations made by the Amenities Committee which were submitted to the Government on March 31 last. Or as an alternative, it said, the Government could amend laws during the current Assembly session or introduce a Bill to give effect to the recommendations. The meeting, which was held in the old Assembly hall, adopted resolutions demanding treatment facilities as being given to MLAs in NIMS and other super speciality hospitals in important cities. It said the medical bills should be reimbursed, medicines should be supplied in hospitals attached to the MLAs' quarters and the limit for operations should be increased to Rs.1 lakh from Rs.75,000. The other demands include free bus travel, train travel concession, payment of monthly pension of Rs.5,000 for each ex-MLA, facility for stay in AP Bhavan for representing people's problems, allotment of house sites in city, allocation of a room in the Assembly complex and inviting the forum members to meetings of the planning bodies in districts for airing their views.
