Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, JULY 18. Members of the Pondicherry Ministerial Staff Federation will hold dharnas in front of Chief Secretariat complex here on July 21 and the Assembly on July 28 in support of their demands. This was resolved at the Federation's meeting here today. It had demanded implementation of demands agreed to upon by the government during the recent meeting with representatives of various government staff organisations. T.R. Seshachalam, president, in a release, said there had been no corresponding rise in the ministerial staff strength despite increase in number of government departments. This had hit the execution of various welfare measures. Other demands include: creating 494 posts of upper division clerks by promoting lower division clerks, filling 115 staff vacancies in Directorate of Accounts and Treasurers and amalgamating Grade I & II posts of the Superintendents. The Federation also wanted the pay revised: Rs. 4,500-7,500 for LDCs, Rs. 5,000-8,000 for UDCs and Rs. 5,500-9,000 for other staff. They also demanded special pay for Tamil typist and computer assistants in departments, and patient care allowance for ministerial staff in government hospitals.
