VISAKHAPATNAM, JULY 18. The district administration has prepared a master plan to control the spread of viral fever in the Agency. Under the plan, the Agency has been divided into various pockets and 55 school buildings have been identified to accommodate special teams which will camp there and fan out into interior villages every morning. The drive will commence on Monday. ``Doctors and paramedical staff will stay in the school buildings during night and operate from there,'' the District Medical and Health Officer, P. Jagannadham, told The Hindu on Sunday. There were 17 primary health centres (PHCs) in 11 mandals of the Agency. There were only 32 doctors against the requirement of 55, he said. ``Fifteen doctors, eight from the plains and seven from King George Hospital, are being deputed to the Agency. Twenty-three lab technicians are also being deputed from the headquarters,'' he said. The district administration also decided to fill the vacancies of 16 doctors on contract basis, Mr. Jagannadham said. The appointments would be made under the supervision of the district Collector on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Integrated Tribal Development Agency made arrangements for supply of 10 kg of rice and other provisions to each of the family affected by viral fever in the Agency. The ITDA would also supply medicines worth Rs.11 lakhs. The DM&HO asserted that fevers were under control in all Agency mandals except Munchingput and Pedhapadabayalu where the villages were located in accessible terrain.
