Mediapersons told to uphold ethics

The Minister for Labour, Tanvir Sait, inaugurating a seminar on `Values in Media' in Mysore on Sunday.

MYSORE, JULY 18. September. The Minister of State for Labour and Haj, Tanveer Sait, today called upon mediapersons to uphold ethics and morality and bring about a change in society.

Inaugurating a seminar on "Values in Media," organised by the Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya as a prelude to the Media Conference scheduled to be held at Mt. Abu in September, Mr. Sait said that media should not be affected by rumours and that it was its responsibility to protect the health of the society.

The director of Dainik Bhaskar, Kamal Dixit, said that newspapers were becoming tools in the hands of a few powerful market forces. After 60 years of growth, the media was only disseminating information and there were no educative material, he said. Veteran journalist Krishna Vattam was felicitated for his contribution to the field of journalism on the occasion.

The vice-chairman of the media wing at the Brahmakumaris International Headquarters, Karunaji, and senior members from the Brahmakumaris were present on the occasion. About 400 delegates representing 13 States are participating in the seminar.
