KOCHI, JULY 18. The Minister for Information, M.M. Hassan, has said that the Government will initiate further steps on the Narendran Commission report after the United Democratic Front (UDF) takes a political decision on its implementation. Speaking to the media here today, Mr. Hassan said that the UDF constituents and the Opposition should make their stand clear on the commission report. UDF will discuss the implementation of the report at its next meeting, he added. The Minister said that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) had made its stand clear on the commission report. He said that there was nothing wrong in the demand made by the IUML for implementing the report. Mr. Hassan said that the Government has been waiting to know the decision of the UDF allies on the implementation of the report. The Minister said that social and religious organisations should take care not to create any communal tension with regard to the commission report. He said that the issue of reservation and social justice could not be resolved through a Government order. Mr. Hassan said that there was nothing wrong in differences of opinion expressed by constituents of the Government over the Narendran Commission report.
