PATHANAMTHITTA, JULY 18. The 11-day festival, following the installation of the golden flagmast, at the famous Malayalappuzha Devi Temple near here began with the Kodiyettu ceremony this evening. The Tantri, Adimuttathu Madhom Sukumara Bhattathiri, hoisted the ceremonial flag in an atmosphere charged with devotion. An Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam was performed at the temple, earlier in the morning. The Navakom and Sreebhothabali rituals as part of the festival will be performed from tomorrow till July 27 and the Utsavabali on July 20 and 21. The Pallivetta will be held at 8 p.m. on July 27 and the 11-day festival will come to a close with the Arattu ceremony on July 28. Religious discourses will be held after the Deeparadhana at the temple on all the 11 days, according to Travancore Devaswom Board sources.
