KURNOOL, JULY 18. The Kurnool Collector, Ajay Jain, told the Minister for Agriculture, N. Raghuveera Reddy that a plan had been drawn up to grow jatropha in 30,000 acres in the district this year. At a video-conference on Sunday, Mr. Jain said about three crore saplings would be required for the purpose. He said 37 nurseries maintained by the Government departments could come up with 80 lakh saplings while the remaining would be raised with the help of Shahari Grameen Rozgar Yojana groups in watershed areas. The agriculture and horticulture officials were on the job of identifying progressive farmers. The farmers going for nursery plantation would be assisted in installing drip irrigation system with 90 per cent subsidy.
