KSEB in final

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 18. KSEB will meet TNEB in the final of the 30th all-India inter electricity board basketball tournament. In the semifinals at the Mini stadium, Vydyuthi Bhavanam, host and defending champion KSEB trounced PSEB 74-31.

After a slow start the young KSEB side overwhlemed its rivals with speed and accurate shooting. Preyesh Jacob and Bobit Mathew led the KSEB's charge as it built a sizeable lead at half-time. PSEB simply caved in after the third quarter and allowed KSEB to canter home.

TNEB booked its passage into the final with an easy 51-28 win over BBMB. TNEB led 31-16 at half-time. Somashekaran (15) and Dhanasshekaran (10) did the bulk of scoring for the winner.

Semifinals: KSEB 74 (Preyesh Jacob 22, Bobit Mathew 14, Shabu Kumar 12) bt PSEB 31 (Gurlal Singh 14, Asish Arun Gill 8); TNEB 51 (Somashekaran 15, Dhanashekaran 10) bt BBMB 28 (Kedarnath 8, Dheeraj Singh 6).

League: Pool `A': KSEB 67 (Bobit Mathew 12, M.Renjith 8) bt APTRANSCO 26 (Elp Raju 18); BBMB 50 (Sunil Kumar 22, Dheeraj Singh 17) bt KPTCL 24 (Rithesh Kumar 6).

Pool `B': TNEB 58 (T.D. Raman 20, Somasunder 10, Gopalakrishnan 8) bt APGENCO 12 (M. Anand 6); PSEB 45 (Harpinder Singh 16, Gurbax Singh 9) bt Maharashtra EB 21 (S. Gokhale 9).
