KOZHIKODE, JULY 18. As many as 350 students from Kerala got allotment to B.Tech., B.Arch. and B.Pharm. courses in various institutions at the on-line counselling based on the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), which ended at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), near here, on Saturday. However, about 1,600 students from Kerala (out of the all-India rank cut-off of 27,192 who were called for counselling) turned up. It is one of the 16 counselling centres in the country and the only one in the State; it also caters to the students of Lakshadweep. The last date for students to report at the allotted institutions is July 24 evening. The second round of allotment for the vacant seats will be held from July 26 to August 2. The entire admission process to NITs, Central universities and deemed universities will close on August 2. The deemed universities will be giving one more day on August 3 for the students to join the vacant seats. According to R. Sreedharan, chairman (Admissions), NIT-C, the total number of seats available for students from Kerala is 300All these seats, except one seat for Kerala students in other States, have been filled. The students can also compete for a total of 4,824 seats across the country under the all-India quota, in which any Indian can compete.
