Turkmenistan holds Saudi Arabia

CHENGDU, China, july 18. Yasser Al Qahtani scored twice on Sunday, but could only secure three-time champion Saudi Arabia a 2-2 draw against a plucky Turkmenistan in the Asian Cup football tournament.

Turkmenistan drew first blood in the Group `C' match, with Nazar Bayramov knocking in a fine header just six minutes into the first half. Three minutes later, the Saudis were awarded a direct free kick, easily converted by Al Qahtani. The Saudis made it 2-1 when Al Qahtani headed a long, arcing cross in the 58th minute. Ildar Magdeev finally evened the score with a penalty kick.
