The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, inaugurating the municipal office complex at Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district on Sunday.
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 18. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said on Sunday that the APGenco would take up the long-pending BPL power project, which was proposed by previous Telugu Desam Government in the state. Dr. Reddy who visited the Godavarikhani coal belt inaugurated the new market complex and a municipal office as part of the Rajiv Palle Bata. Speaking on the occasion, he assured the release of Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) benefits to the Anthargaon Spinning Mill workers. He also assured opening up of 26 new mines in the Singareni Collieries to create more employment opportunities in the region. Dr. Reddy also traversed through 12 villages including some interior villages covering a distance of about 60 kilometres. He said the Government would ensure utilisation of surplus Godavari waters by completing the Yellampalli (Sripada sagar), SRSP stage-II and SRSP Flood Flow canal projects at the earliest. The Chief Minister also announced sops to the industrial belt by announcing Rs. 11-crore protected drinking water supply project aided by the World Bank, for Ramagundam municipality. He said that construction of houses would be taken up for NTPC land oustees in about 35 acres of land in the region. He said the foundation stone for the Yellampalli project (Sripada Sagar) would be laid on July 22 in the Ramagundam region. The Ministers - M. Satyanarayana Rao, G. Vinod, the MLAs - D. Sridhar, K. Eshwar, K. Lingaiah, G. Mukund Reddy and Diwakar Rao -- the Ramagundam Municipal Chairman, B. Rajalingam, the Collector, C. Parthasarathi, and others were present.
Assurance to DSC candidates
The Chief Minister assured to solve the problems of all the District Selection Committee (DSC) qualified candidates within 10 days. Responding to the plea made by the selected candidates during the Palle Bata programme in Jagtial, he said the Government was examining the possibility of conducting a fresh qualifying examination for all the DSC selected candidates and take necessary action. In Jagtial, he participated in the inauguration of 33\11 KV sub station built at a cost of Rs. 90 lakh. He also unveiled a statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and took part in a plantation programme.
