MANGALORE, JULY 18. Kodlamogaru Taniyappa Gowda, Yakshagana artiste, was presented with the Dogra Poojary Award 2004 instituted by the Bolur Dogra Poojary Memorial Yakshagana Kendra at a function here yesterday. The award is in recognition of his valuable contribution to Yakshagana. The award carried Rs. 5,000 in cash and a citation. Naveenchandra D, president of the All-India Billavas' Union, presented the award. Later, a Yakshagana Talamaddale, "Gada Parva," was held. Mr. Gowda has participated in the Kateel, Suratkal, Sunkadakatte, and Venoor yakshagana melas. He is a popular name in the art form.
