Man held, 600 star turtles seized

CHENNAI, JULY 18. The Chennai airport officials on Saturday night arrested a 32-year-old man when he tried to smuggle more than 600 star turtles to Thailand.

The officials said Faizul Rehman of Netaji Nagar in Tondiarpet was carrying the turtles in three bags. He was arrested following a tip-off. The turtles, worth more than Rs. 15 lakhs in the international market, were handed over to him by Sathish Kumar of Dharmapuri.
