IMPHAL, JULY 18. The indefinite curfew which was imposed on Tuesday was relaxed this morning for two hours from 9.30 a.m. People rushed to buy consumer items and other life-saving medicines. However, the shops are displaying empty shelves since Manipur's lifeline, National Highway 39, remains cut off for the sixth day today. If the situation improves, the curfew will be relaxed further, the Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi, told The Hindu today. The curfew was imposed following violent protests over the killing of a woman, allegedly by the Assam Rifles. PTI reports Five Government offices were set ablaze by agitators. Official sources said the protesters set on fire the Sub-Deputy Collector and Municipal Corporation offices at Ningthoukhong, the Sub-Deputy Collector's office at Moirang and Electricity and Fisheries Department offices at Kumbi in Bishenpur district late last night.
