Airport staff stir from today

HYDERABAD, JULY 18. The Airports Authority Employees Union is going on a relay hunger strike from Monday protesting against moves to privatise Delhi and Mumbai airports in the name of modernisation.

Similar protests are being organised at all airports following a call from the Employees' Joint Forum, Delhi, the union's local secretary, V.S. Gupta, said here on Sunday.

"The effort is to save major revenue earning airports of the Airports Authority of India from privatisation," Mr. Gupta said.
