Around the City

No change in temperatures

A partly cloudy sky with no major change in day and night temperatures in the city has been forecast for Monday. The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 33.9 degree Celsius and minimum was 23 degree Celsius. Relative humidity was 50 per cent.

Auto drivers' plea on licence

The Auto Divers Joint Action Committee has said that driving licence test for autorickshaw drivers should be conducted in respective zones instead of conducting it at Nagole. Its convenor, Amanullah Khan, in a press release wanted the police to extend the vehicle seizure deadline (in case of drivers not having licences) by three months.

Computer centre opening

The Vice-Chancellor of niversity of Hyderabad, Kota Harinarayana, will inaugurate the computer centre attached to the University Grants Commission-Academic Staff College of the university on Monday.

Vegetable carving classes

The School of Gardening, Agri-Horticultural Society, Public Gardens, will conduct a three-day vegetable carving training course on its premises from July 20. For details contact over phone nos. 23299779 or 55591474.

Green Corps workshop

I.V. Subba Rao, Principal Secretary, School Education, gave away prizes to winners of the competitions organised in connection with World Environment Day at a workshop conducted by the National Green Corps and Energy Conservation Mission here on Saturday. T. Srinivas Reddy, P.V. Siva Kumar and N. Srinivasulu won prizes in the photography section, a press release said.

SCR seminar on safety

The South Central Railway recently organised a seminar on electrical safety at Rail Nilayam auditorium during which safety precautions for electrical staff and passengers were discussed. The SCR General Manager, T. Stanley Babu, released a booklet on electrical safety. Mr. Babu called upon officials concerned to intensify night inspections to rectify deficiencies in lighting arrangements in stations, trains and railway colonies.

Skits on safe use of electricity were performed by the staff. The Chief Electrical Engineer, Satish Kumar, and staff from Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nanded and Guntakal divisions participated.

IMA chapter to conduct exam

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) State chapter is conducting the 51st All-India National FCGP examination in November. Doctors who are IMA life members are eligible to apply. The last date for registration is August 15. Details can be had from Pulla Rao, honorary secretary,
