TIRUCHI, JULY 18 . The state Labour Welfare Minister, P. Annavi, today inspected the development works in progress in Thottiyam and Thattiengarpettai panchayat union limits on an outlay of Rs.1.63 crores and urged officials to take steps for completion of works according to schedule. The Minister, accompanied by the Collector, V. Pandian, inspected the construction of an operation theatre and upgraded a 30-bed primary health centre on an outlay of Rs.37 lakhs at Thattiengarpettai and directed the authorities to complete work within three months. Mr. Annavi also inspected the construction of three government hostels for Backward Class and Adi Dravida welfare students, both on an outlay of Rs. 63 lakhs at Thattiengarpettai and a hostel for Backward Class girls on an outlay of Rs. 31.5 lakhs at Mettupalayam. In the Thottiyam union, the Minister inspected the Most Backward Class Students' Hostel construction works in Natham. The residents of Kattuputhur presented a petition to the Minister, pointing out the bad condition of the local irrigation channel and demanded that steps be taken to desilt it. Mr. Annavi directed the officials to undertake the desilting work immediately. Musiri, Revenue Divisional Officer, and C. A. Raman, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (buildings), accompanied the Minister.
