KOCHI, JULY 18. Six policemen were injured when the patrol vehicle turned on its side. The vehicle was returning to the Thripunithura AR camp after the patrol when the accident occurred near Kalamassery at 6 a.m. today. The injured Joseph, Thomas, Jayan, Pradeep and Raju, all of them police constables, were first admitted to the Ernakulam Medical Centre and later shifted to Thripunithura taluk hospital.
One arrested
Biju (27), son of Peter from Palluruthy was arrested by Mattanchery police for stealing a mobile phone from a passenger of a private bus. The accused was handed over to police by the public after he was found stealing the instrument when the bus was near Anavaathil, the police said.
