Admission to polytechnic

KOCHI, JULY 18. Chance interviews for admission to various polytechnics in the Ernakulam district will be held on July 20, 21 and 22 at the Government polytechnic, Kalamassery from 9 a. m. each day. Those who were interviewed on July 12, 13 and 14 and secured admissions and desire either a change in the branch of their studies or a change in the institution into which they have received the admission may attend the interviews, said a press release here. Those who have not secured admission in the above interview and have index mark of 155 or above may also attend the interview. Those in the reserved category who have index mark below 155 may attend the interview on July 21. The telephone numbers of various polytechnics are: Government Polytechnic, Kalamassery - 2555366, Women's Polytechnic, Kalamassery - 2556624, Government Polytechnic College, Kothamangalam - 2570287 and Government Polytechnic College, Perumbavoor - 2649251.

Interview at ITI

Interview for admission for courses in various trades in the ITI, Kalamassery will be held on Tuesday from 9 a. m. Those eligible for admission have been issued memos. Those who have not received memos may come to the ITI on the interview day with originals of the relevant certificates, said a press release here.

Privatisation decried

The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has demanded that the State Government should withdraw its decision to allow private investment in TELK, Angamaly and Forest Industries Travancore Limited, Aluva. A press release from the State Secretary of the INTUC, V. P. George alleged that the move to allow private investment in these two units was a precursor to completely privatising these units.

Office-bearers elected

Jose Philip of Bhageeratha Electricals and Structural has been elected president of the Indian Institute of Plant Engineers, Kerala chapter. S. Varadarajan of Cochin Shipyard has been elected the secretary.
