BANGALORE, JULY 18. A labourer was killed and four others were injured when a papal tree fell on them near Binny Mills in Jagjivanram Nagar Police Station limits on Sunday. The police said the tree was 10 years old and the recent rains had loosened the soil around it. The name of the victim was given as Gangappa (46) of Bangarpet. The injured, Chikkappa (22), Manjunath (20), Arunachalam (55) and Jagannathan (45), were admitted to Victoria Hospital, the police said. The five were among the 50 contract labourers employed by Bangalore Electric Supply Company to lay underground power cables in the area. They were staying in a makeshift tent near the tree, the police said.
