Partly cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 18.JULY 18.JULY The Capital will wake up to a partly cloudy sky on Monday. The weatherman has also forecast the possibility thundery developments or light rain in some areas.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday was 38.0 and 27.3 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 37.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27.5 degrees Celsius.

At Safdarjung, the maximum and minimum humidity recorded was 83 and 36 per cent respectively. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 85 per cent while the minimum was 44 per cent.

Alleged suicide

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 18.JULY 18.JULY The 25-year-old son of a Supreme Court judge allegedly committed suicide at his Tughlak Road residence in New Delhi on Saturday.

It is learnt that the incident occurred around 3-30 p.m. when the judge's son went to kitchen, picked up a knife and cut his throat. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he was declared dead on arrival. The police have not confirmed whether they found any suicide note from the spot.

While the district police were tight-lipped over the incident, the reason why the judge's son took this extreme step is yet to be established. The Tughlak Road police have initiated inquest proceedings into the matter.

Three caught

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 18.JULY 18.JULY Three alleged burglars have been arrested by the North Delhi police and Rs. 20,000 stolen money recovered.

The accused have been identified as Dharamjeet, Shambhu Sahni and Ramu Sahni. The accused burgled the office of a businessman and stole Rs. 1.40 lakhs. One of the accused used to supply tea to the complainant. The police recovered Rs. 20,000, a SIM Card and clothes purchased from the stolen money from their possession. During interrogation, Ramu disclosed that he was trying to flee to his native place at Darbhanga in Bihar.

Nabbed

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, JULY 18.JULY 18.JULY Five alleged pickpockets, who were planning to target some traders near the Metro Rail station at Pratap Nagar, were arrested on Saturday. A country-made firearm and two live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that some pickpockets had gathered outside Pratap Nagar Metro station to steal money from some traders on their way home from their shops, the police laid a trap and arrested them. The accused were identified as Sunil, Sonu, Rajinder, Bharat Bhushan and Dharam Pal. A case has been registered and further probe is on.
