This Day That Age
Mr. V. L. Mehta, Chairman of the All-India Khadi and Village Industries Board, said in Bombay on July 18 that the opening of Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan in the city was "undoubtedly a notable event" in the execution of the National Economic Plan. "For the first time, the State associates itself with a large-scale attempt to secure an assured market for the products of village industries that are wholly indigenous," he added. Mr. Mehta said that the National Plan provided for a considerable expansion of these village industries and also for their technical reorganisation wherever it was called for. But no expansion in reorganisation could be of lasting benefit unless the products have access to new markets.
