Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the Andhra Pradesh Government's decision to give five per cent reservation to Muslims in education and government employment. The move is divisive and dangerous and will create social disharmony. It is also against secularism because in a secular polity, there can be no reservation on religious grounds.
J.G. Arora,
Sir, The move is unconstitutional and reflective of the politics of appeasement. If a community feels it is lagging behind in development, it should look for the causes and work out remedies. Reservation will only sweep the real issue under the carpet.
Ananthan Venkatagiri,
