SVU denies affiliation to 23 colleges

TIRUPATI, JULY 19. The Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) has refused to extend its affiliation for 2004-05 to 23 degree colleges under its jurisdiction in Chittoor, Nellore and Cuddapah districts. Nine colleges in Cuddapah, and 7 each in Chittoor and Nellore have been refused affiliation.

Directions to this effect had been issued by the AP High Court on the grounds that the colleges did not have buildings even after five years after being established. The Dean of the University's College Development Council in a press release said that the Correspondents of the colleges have been asked not to admit students into the first year for this academic year. Students are advised against joining the institutions and cautioned that the university would not be responsible for adversities faced by them if they did.

The colleges that were denied affiliation in the Chittoor district are: C. Dass Arts and Science Degree College, Sathyavedu; Indira Rajiv Memorial Degree College, Kuppam; S. V. Arts and Science College, Chittoor; Viswabharathi Degree College, Tirupati; A. E. R. Degree College, Tirupati; Sri Gnanambica Degree College, Madanapalle; and Balaji Degree College for Women, Tirupati.

Those in Nellore district are: MSR Degree College, Kavali; Sri Venkateswara Degree College, Nellore; Vivekananda Degree College, Nellore; S.V. Degree College, Atmakur; Krishna Chaitanya Degree College, Nellore; Aaditya Degree College, Nellore; and Lendy Degree College, Nellore.

Those in Cuddapah district are: CSSR & SRM Degree College, Kamalapuram; Sree Vedavyasa Degree College, Proddatur; Sri Parameswara Degree College, Jammalamadugu; SGKR Degree College, Cuddapah; Vaagdevi Degree College, Proddatur; Sri RNB Degree College, Bnadvel; HM Degree College, Rayachoti; Krishnasarada Degree College, Porumamilla; and Sri Vaishnavi Degree College, Rajampet.
