Court ruling on medical admissions

By Our Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JULY 19. A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh. High Court, comprising Chief Justice Devinder Gupta and Justice C.V. Ramulu, on Monday ruled that students should not be admitted to medical and dental colleges, which were not yet fully established though the essentiality certificates were issued long ago.

These orders were given on a writ petition filed by one Rajasekhar and another person complaining that the State Government had not acted upon the recommendations of the Justice Jeevan Reddy Committee.

The petitioners brought to the notice of the court that though the Committee recommended cancellation of essentiality certificates of 15 colleges, this was not implemented.

Health varsity counselling

Our Vijayawada Special Correspondent writes: Meanwhile, counselling for admission into the medical colleges in open category was completed by NTR University of Health Sciences on Monday even as the stalemate over the fee structure and the quota assured to minorities in BC-E category continued for the third consecutive day. Counselling for the backward classes, Scheduled Castes and Tribes would commence on Tuesday.
