Gymnastic Academy to be ready by June

NEW DELHI, JULY 19. An indoor gymnastics hall of international standard is expected to be ready by January at the National Sports Academy, Allahabad.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the chief patron of the academy, Dr. U. K. Mishra, said the project was coming up on a 30-acres of land.

As many as 120 trainees will be admitted to the campus in the first year. School and hostel facilities will be provided to them, said Dr. Mishra.

"Efforts are on to get quality coaches from the country and abroad," he added.

It was also announced that four trainees from the academy — Ashish Kanojia, Alok Ranjan, Devesh Kumar and Shalu Mishra — figured in a six-member Indian team for the Children of Asia international sports and games to be held in Yakutsk, Russia, from July 23 to 30.

"Trainees from the academy had bagged one gold, two silver and five bronze medals in the previous edition of the event," said Dr. Mishra. He also praised the Executive Director of the DSM Group, V. K. Goel, and the secretary of the Banarsidas Chandiwala Society, Bhuwan Mohan, for their constant support for the dream project.
