AG AP in last four

HYDERABAD, JULY 19. AG's Andhra Pradesh moved into the semifinals of the Senior State hockey championship, defeating SAI STC `A' 7-6 in sudden death at the Begumpet Police Stadium here on Monday.

Prasanna Kumar put SAI ahead in the 19th minute only to see AG AP equalise through Md. Habeeb in the 34th minute.

In the second session, SAI took the lead again through Nityanand but again AG AP levelled through Z. A. Dara. SAI surged ahead again thanks to a penalty corner conversion by Vijaya Kumar and in the dying minutes Habeeb scored for AG AP as the teams were deadlocked in regulation time.

In the tie-breaker, Suresh Singh, Veer Singh and Vijaya Kumar were successful for SAI, while Md. Rafiuddin, Vijaya and Md. Habeeb were on target for AG AP.

In sudden death, Veer Singh of SAI saw his stroke blocked by custodian Lakhan Raj, while Md. Rafiuddin was successful for AG AP.
