TUMKUR, JULY 19. Two persons were killed and five injured when a Maruti van by which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Jogihalli, near here, on the Bangalore-Pune highway on Monday. Seven persons, including three women and two children, who reside at Mahalakshmi Layout in Bangalore, were returning by the van from Davangere while the lorry bearing a Tamil Nadu registration was bound for Mumbai. Premakumari (36), a lecturer in a Bangalore college, and Chandrashekar (56), who was at the wheel of the van, died on the spot. Shylaja (30), Vanishri (32), Nanjamma (60), Nayan (4), and Muktesh (6) were injured. The injured have been admitted to the General Hospital here. The District Surgeon, H.C. Mruthyunjaya, said the injured were out of danger.
