Big win for Canara Bank
BANGALORE,
JULY 19.
Vijay Bharadwaj's unbeaten 70 powered Canara Bank to a nine-wicket victory over AGORC in The Hindu Trophy tournament quarterfinal at the KT Palace Ground here on Monday.
Earlier, AGORC scored 180 for five in 30 overs with L. Prashanth unbeaten on 75.
However, Bharadwaj's heroics and cameos by C. Raghu (58 n.o.) and G. K. Anil Kumar (44) guided Canara Bank into the semifinals scheduled for Wednesday.
The scores (quarterfinals):
AGORC 180 for five in 30 overs (L. Prashanth 75 n.o., Umashankar 27 n.o., Saptha Girish 25) lost to Canara Bank 182 for one in 24 overs (Vijay Bharadwaj 70 n.o., C. Raghu 58 n.o., G.K. Anil Kumar 44).
RWF 276 for three in 30 overs (Krishna Murthy 141, Vinay 35, Rakshan Rai 31, M. Vinod 30 n.o.; Prasanna Patil three for 22) bt HAL SC 160 for seven in 30 overs (Selva Kumar 33).
BEML RC (Cricket) 98 in 23.3 overs (G. N. Umesh three for 24, Sandeep Rath three for 25) lost to Vijaya Bank 99 for one in 15 overs (Srivasta Puranik 59, K.M. Aiyappa 31 n.o.).
SBI 138 for six in 30 overs (S. Prakash 33 n.o., B.V. Bhaskar 33) lost to SBM 142 for four in 22.1 overs (B. Akhil 57, L.K. Vishwanath 56 n.o.).
