BHEL, Oriental to lock horns
BANGALORE,
JULY 19.
BHEL and Oriental FC entered the final of the State `B' division football league in progress at the Football Stadium here.
In the semifinals on Monday, BHEL defeated BUFC 2-1 while Oriental FC scored a 3-1 victory over Mohammedan Sporting.
In the first semifinal, Vinod's brace helped BHEL comeback after BUFC's Ramesh found the net in the fifth minute. Vinod struck in the 10th minute and a few minutes later, his powerful right-footer sailed 30 yards, hoodwinked the BUFC defence and secured BHEL the berth in the final. BUFC had a chance to equalise but Kamal failed to convert a penalty in 79th minute.
In the second semifinal, Oriental FC had an easy outing against Mohammedan Sporting. Gerry, Rajendra and Rama Rao scored for the winner while Rajan chipped in Mohd. Sporting's lone goal. The match was marred by a 17th minute scuffle between the two Saravanans of the rival teams and the duo was issued the red card by referee Ashok.
The final between BHEL and Oriental FC will be held on Tuesday.
