NIZAMABAD, JULY 19. The District Collector, D. V. Raidu, has assured farmers that an enquiry will be conducted by the Joint Director of Agriculture to look into complaints lodged by several farmers pertaining to rescheduling of crop loan and payment of crop insurance amount. The Collector was addressing a large number of farmers from Navipet, Nizamabad and Dichpalli mandals, who had earlier staged a dharna at the Collectorate on Monday, wanting the authorities to reschedule crop loan. The Collector said the Joint Director would conduct a detailed enquiry and ensure that ryots get justice. He also promised to speak to the bank officials and ensure that farmers were not harassed for repayment of loan. Earlier, hundreds of farmers of Mokanpalli village of Navipet mandal, Jalalpur village in Nizamabad rural mandal and from Koratpalli, Suddulam and Yanampalli villages of Dichpalli mandal came to the Collectorate and staged a dharna seeking rescheduling of crop loan. They wanted the State and the Central Government to immediately release crop insurance amount for 2002 and sought action against bank officials for alleged harassment.
