Uttaranchal Assembly session begins

By Our Staff Correspondent

DEHRA DUN, JULY 19. The Uttaranchal Governor, Sudarshan Aggarwal, called upon the Legislators today to ensure that every minute of the State Assembly was utilised for the promotion of justice, social welfare and development activity.

Addressing the House on the first day of the budget session, Mr Aggarwal outlined the priorities and progress made by the Government. He said it was making all-out efforts to attract industries so that employment could be generated. Stress was also on developing tourism as a major bread earner for the common man. With a view to promote agriculture and horticulture, the G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology had been tasked with developing need oriented technologies and seeds. Eleven research and training centres of the Horticulture Department had been transferred to the varsity to help the experts make micro level contributions and effective lab-to-land experiments.
